Castle Nuts, Range of Sizes Available
Castle Nuts feature a castellated top, which allows them to be used in unison with a horizontal locking split pin. The pin is inserted between the slots on the nut, through a hole in the threaded screw, to create a locked anti-vibration fastening.
A castellated nut, sometimes referred to as a castle nut, is a nut with slots cut into one end. The name comes from the nut’s resemblance to the crenellated parapet of a medieval castle. Castellated nuts are sometimes referred to incorrectly as castigated nuts.
A common use for these in agriculture is on Disc Harrow Shafts.
