    Protecting and Maintaining Britain’s Hedgerow’s

Hedgerows are one of those quintessentially British things; much like a Victoria sandwich or a country cottage.  Hedgerows are not only a method of fencing for livestock, they’re a security device, havens for wildlife and an ancient craft dating back centuries, with many regional variations.  According to the BBC, the new King Charles III is a big fan of hedgerows, with quite a few being laid at the Highgrove Estate.

The protection and maintenance of hedges on a farm is a very important item in the farming calendar.  A

    What is Regenerative Farming?

    Everyone’s Talking About Regenerative Farming…

    Government Influence

With the drive for net zero and reducing carbon footprint, regenerative farming is certainly a buzz word in the agricultural industry.  Decarbonising agricultural emissions is certainly a challenge, and the pursuit of a net-zero emission economy by 2050 will be a lofty target for the agricultural sector.

Farming certainly brings with it some unavoidable emissions, such as the raising of animals and use of fertilizer.  The government’s recently launched ‘Net Zero Growth Plan’ (https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/powering-up-britain ) states, however, that these practices must continue for the sustainment of the British Food Industry, while reducing emissions ‘as far as possible’.  Regenerative agriculture is perhaps one of few ways in which the UK farming industry can attain to the Net

  6. Making Sense Of The Sustainable Farming Incentive

Making Sense Of The Sustainable Farming Incentive

It is forecasted that BPS payments received by many farms will be phased out by approximately 2028. Farmers will be glad to know that the government has implemented the ‘SFI’ or sustainable farming incentive by way of replacing some of the income previously relied upon by many farmers from the BPS.  The SFI represents a scheme that aims to create a healthier bottom line for many farmers while protecting the environment for future generations, using the natural capital our wonderful British countryside already has to offer.

    Some Particulars:

    • You can apply for the SFI if you were eligible for the BPS (Basic Payment Scheme) in 2022 or 2023.
    • To qualify for an early payment by the

    The Best Grassland Overseeder Guide

Why you should take grain storage seriously in 2022...

We’re all very aware of the effects that the Russian onslaught is having on food production, in particular on Ukranian grain exports. ADHB estimate that the Ukrainian grain harvest is forecasted to drop to 48.5Mt this harvest, from 86Mt last year, as sown area is down 25%.

It’s over 3 years since our last blog centred around Combatting Rural Crime - https://www.agri-linc.com/blog/farm-security-combatting-the-scourge-of-rural-crime/ , and since then we’ve been through a pandemic, wheat price rollercoasters (more about that soon) & shortages of almost everything imaginable… the difficulties and opportunities this has thrown up means farmers need to be constantly on the lookout to deter desperate criminals, especially as we are now back into a ‘new normal’.
